uPVC Windows Fitted Across Birmingham
If you need uPVC windows in Birmingham, Eco Glaze supplies and fits made-to-measure double glazed windows for houses, flats and bungalows across the city. Every window we quote is designed to meet the current Building Regulations for energy efficiency, comes with a compliance certificate, and is fitted by our own installers rather than passed to a stranger.
uPVC is the most popular window material in the UK for a simple reason: it is warm, low maintenance and good value. It never needs painting, it will not rot, and a modern multi-chambered frame with A-rated glass keeps far more heat in than the timber or early plastic windows found in many Birmingham homes.
Not sure this is the right option? See our sash windows and aluminium windows pages, or read more about Eco Glaze.

- Removal and responsible disposal of your old windows
- Internal and external finishing, sealing and a full clean down
- A Building Regulations compliance certificate for every installation
Signs You Need uPVC Windows
- Condensation between the panes. Mist trapped inside the glass means the seal has failed and the unit has lost its insulating gas.
- Draughts and cold spots. If you can feel air moving near a closed window, the seals or the frame have stopped doing their job.
- Rotten or swollen frames. Timber that is soft, flaking or sticking in damp weather is past the point where painting helps.
- Rising heating bills. Old single glazing or first generation double glazing lets a large share of your heat straight outside.
- Street noise you can hear indoors. Homes on busy routes such as the Hagley Road or the A38 benefit from modern glass and acoustic options.
- Handles and hinges that fail. Worn mechanisms are a security risk as well as an annoyance.

uPVC Window Styles Compared
| Option | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Casement | Most Birmingham semis and terraces | Side or top hung. The best value and the most common style. |
| Tilt and turn | Flats, upstairs rooms, easy cleaning | Tilts inwards for safe ventilation and swings in fully so you can clean the outside from indoors. |
| Flush casement | Period homes and conservation-friendly looks | Sashes sit flush with the frame, giving the look of traditional timber windows. |
| Bay and bow | Victorian and 1930s bay fronts | Built around your existing bay structure, often with extra support for the roof above. |
| uPVC sash | Victorian and Edwardian villas | Sliding sashes with the look of timber and none of the rattles. See our sash windows page. |
Frames come in white, cream, grey, black and woodgrain foils such as golden oak and rosewood. Glass can be upgraded to acoustic laminated, obscure, self-cleaning or triple glazed units.
How Much Do uPVC Windows Cost in Birmingham?
The price of uPVC windows depends mostly on the size and number of windows, the style and the glass you choose. National price guides typically put a standard fitted uPVC casement window at roughly £400 to £1,200, with bays, sashes and coloured frames costing more. The Energy Saving Trust estimates a full set of A-rated windows for a semi-detached house at around £4,800.
We always give a fixed written price after a free survey, so the number you see is the number you pay.
What affects the price
- Number and size of windows
- Window style (casement, tilt and turn, flush, bay or sash)
- Frame colour and woodgrain finishes
- Glass upgrades such as acoustic, triple glazed or obscure
- Access, such as scaffolding for upper floors or bays
- Any repairs needed to the brickwork or lintels found during removal
uPVC Windows for Birmingham Homes
Birmingham has a huge spread of housing, from Victorian terraces in Balsall Heath and Kings Heath to interwar semis in Hall Green, Erdington and Quinton, and post-war flats close to the city centre. Each needs a different approach. Bay-fronted 1930s semis often need extra structural support when the bay is replaced, while homes in conservation areas such as Edgbaston, Moseley and Moor Pool in Harborne may need planning permission before uPVC can replace timber. We check this with you at survey so nothing is fitted that you later have to remove.
Why Choose Us
Why Choose Eco Glaze for uPVC Windows in Birmingham
Built to the 1.4 U-value rule
Since the June 2022 update to Part L of the Building Regulations, replacement windows in England must reach a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or a Window Energy Rating of band B. We quote A-rated glass as standard, so you are comfortably inside the rule rather than scraping past it. The Energy Saving Trust estimates that going from single glazing to A-rated double glazing saves a semi-detached home around £85 a year and 290kg of CO2.
Surveys seven days a week
Eco Glaze is open Monday to Sunday, 9am to 7pm. That is 70 hours a week when you can call, book a survey or ask a question, including evenings and weekends when most people are actually at home. Plenty of window companies only run surveys on weekdays, which means taking time off work just to get a price.
A local team on the Hagley Road
Our base at Radclyffe House, 66-68 Hagley Road, is about a mile from the city centre, which keeps travel time short for most Birmingham postcodes. Being local means we can come back quickly if a handle needs adjusting or a vent needs a tweak, and you always know where to find us.

FAQ
uPVC Windows: Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to fit uPVC windows?
A typical three-bedroom house takes one to two days. Each window is usually removed and replaced in under an hour, so rooms are only open for a short time.
Do I need planning permission for new uPVC windows?
Usually not, as like-for-like replacement is normally permitted development. Flats, listed buildings and homes in conservation areas with an Article 4 direction can be different, so we check before you order.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes. Replacement windows must comply with Building Regulations, and every installation we complete is registered so a compliance certificate is issued for your records and for when you sell.
Is triple glazing worth it in Birmingham?
For most homes, A-rated double glazing gives the best value. Triple glazing can help on very exposed or noisy elevations, and we are happy to price both so you can compare.
Can you fit windows in a flat?
Yes. If you own a leasehold flat, check your lease and get the freeholder's consent first, as many leases control the colour and style of windows.
